Principal's Message - December 2024

We have enjoyed a mild fall during recess at school, and now with the snow, students are making the most of the opportunities that brings.  Thank you to all families and students for participating in 3-way conferences to celebrate the learning that has happened so far this year; students are always proud to share their learning with their families.  It is always great to connect with students and parents together to talk about their learning and goals.

We had our monthly free lunch last week, and the menu was “build your own subs”.  Students enthusiastically chose various toppings, some trying things they haven’t had before, and declared that these were the best sandwiches they had ever eaten!  Eating together builds community and it is gratifying to see this in action.  Thank you to the parents who organized and prepared the meal and made it a feast for the eyes in the presentation of the toppings.

Choir rehearsals with Mrs. Marilyn Houser-Hamm have begun in preparation for our Christmas concert on December 18th.   Students are working on memorizing parts for the play, and with our lower student numbers, many students from grades 3-6 have a role in the play this year.  As always, the whole school team is working together to put on this concert, and we look forward to sharing it with you.   Concert times are listed in the “Dates to Remember” section of the newsletter.

The tradition of skating at the Rosenfeld rink on Fridays is just about to start, hopefully on December 13.  Typically we go in two groups, younger and older students, for about an hour each.  Skating starts in grade 1 and students walk to the rink with adults, get their skates and helmets on and enjoy free skating and games on the ice. More details will follow in an email as we get closer to that date.

Please check out the rest of the newsletter for some pictures of events this past month at our school and information about upcoming events.
